Grand Spring Conclave: Translated Version

David Sirota talk at the Denver Press Club January 30

The Scribulators Guild, in conjunction with the Denver Press Club, would like to invite you to a discussion with best-selling author and political journalist David Sirota at 7pm on Saturday, January 30, 1330 Glenarm Place.

Once dubbed by Newsweek as the "Internet child of the Clinton 'war-room' generation," Sirota has built a national platform for his writing and commentary through a mixture of blogging, social media, newspaper syndication, books, radio and endless Twittering. Moderated by former 5820 Magazine web editor, Vanessa Martinez, Sirota will relate the advantages, obstacles and pitfalls he has faced as a lone journalist in the age of digital media.

Grand Spring Conclave 2010: Speaketh David Sirota

When thou meetest a worthy scrib,
 cap and hood thou hold not glib;

In church, in market, or in the gate, do him reverence after his state.

When he doth speak, hold thee still; when hath done, say for thy will,

In thy speech that thou be felle; what thou sayest consider thee well;

But deprive thou not him his tale,
 neither at the wine nor at the ale.

Note then of his high grace,
 save you both wit and space,

Well this tale to know and read; tavern to have for your mede.

Huzzah! Huzzah! So mote it be!
 So say we all for scriberly.

Grand Summer Conclave 2009

Guildians,

In the former lectures we have declared it to be the opinion, that Guildians, in the present state of Scribulatus Dominus, were never a body of authority – merely followers of ancient rules and orders on proper deportment.

We ground a judgement of the nature of our profession on our ceremonials, and flatter ourselves every Guildian will be convinced that they are emblematical of the maxims of our morality and plenary indulgence.

In this vein, let us gather on July 24 for the Grand Summer Conclave, wherein Grand Wizard of Elucidatory Gastronomy and Westword scribe Jason Sheehan shall discourse on his inceptive tome, Cooking Dirty, and his many other vulgar pursuits.

Grand Spring Conclave 2009

To comprehend the nature of our profession, we must look back to the remotest antiquity when the Oracles made intelligible their divinations, which blessed the earliest ages of the world, and from thence collected parts calculated for such exalted felicity and elevated enjoyments, enveiled of science and learning, thusly giving breath to our Exalted Order of Scribulation.

Let us recollect and discuss the practice of these subtleties at the Grand Spring Conclave on Friday, April 24 from 7 to 11pm at the musky house of our diviner, the Denver Press Club.

Ceremonies shall be anchored with oration by Rolling Stone contributing editor Steve Knopper, who shall discuss the sacred mysteries of freelance writing and his authorly endeavor Appetite for Self-Destruction: The Rise and Fall of the Record Industry in the Digital Age.

Much Success!

A most glutteral huzzah resounded through the hallowed halls of the Denver Press Club this past evening for the Grand Winter Conclave '09. Third Degree Master Fellow Dan Baum's allocution on the subjects of raising literary capital and proper editorial deportment were well received.

The files of Guildians not in attendance would have been forwarded to the Excommunication Committee had not all files been incinerated in the Great Fire of 1910. Huzzah!

Dan Baum speakth!

Westworder Joel Warner is possessed.

Video game guy Dave Thomas and Libertarian big brain Ari Armstrong hard at work.

5280's Geoff Van Dyke, Joseph "The Dex Man" Rouse, and Vanessa Martinez of, again, 5280

Closing ceremony.
